7. (continued) For my lighting effects I started with the default and changed the colors of the lights (just click on the color swatches to the right side of the dialogue box and choose new colors, similar to the color picker) and played with the various settings until I liked what I saw. Note that I set mine more to the Flat side than Mountainous at the very bottom of the dialogue box. This makes a HUGE difference in how your image looks.

Lighting effects dialogue box

To change the direction of the light or how wide or far away it is, go to the thumbnail on the left side and click and drag one of the boxes on the circle. Any point you see you can move. Play with it until you figure out how it works. Make sure the Preview box is checked if you want to see your results as you are working. Play with all the sliders and see what happens. If you mess up don't close the dialogue box and re-open it. All you have to do is hold down the Alt key (Option on the Mac) and you will see that your cancel button becomes a reset. With Alt held down, click the reset button and your options will reset to what they were when you first opened the dialogue box. Once you are happy with what you see, click OK to accept the filter.

This is the result of that dialogue box:

Rock (subtle)

If I had not used the Gaussian Blur on the texture channel I created, and just used the default colors in the Light Effects dialogue box, this is what I get:

Rock (non-subtle)

The differences are vast!
